Strawberry picking

Last week we went strawberry picking at Graysmarsh Berry Farm in Sequim. We went with some friends and the kiddos had such a great time picking berries or in Wyatt's case, eating berries the entire time! This farm is really great (and kid friendly too). We'll go back later this summer for blueberries and raspberries. So of course - I picked berries so I could make some jam. So with the help of my lovely husband, this:Turned to this: Into this: And finally into 25 jars of this: YUM!!!

Ta-Da!

Here is my new clothespin bag. I've been meaning to make one of these for a while now, and if I knew how easy it was, I'm sure I would have made it long ago. I love drying my clothes on the line in the summer. It just seems wrong to have the hot dryer on. Oh - and this. For the past few days Wyatt has refused to take a nap. So I thought maybe that time is over. So my solution was that he still needed to have some "quiet time" in bed. So today I put him in bed with a few books and look what happened:

Ok - so I know it's been a while. Wyatt and I rode the train down to Eugene to my parent's house last week. We arrived on Tuesday and stayed through Sunday. Dennis joined us on Friday night. We had such a wonderful time. We celebrated Jonas' graduation and we also got to see family and friends that we don't see often. And it was wonderful to spend some time with my parent's and be back in Eugene for a few days. I'm not going to write much, but I am going to bombard you with pictures. I hope you don't mind. Here we go: Wyatt and I about to board the train.

Celebrating Jonas' big day!
Wyatt's new friend Jack.
We found a little frog in the garden today and Wyatt was so excited about it. He kept trying to catch it and it kept hopping along. So I got him a jar and helped him catch it (don't worry, we let it go). You will see what happens in this little series of pictures but let me tell you first that I have this thing about frogs. I'm just not crazy about them. I think they are cute and all but they are so unpredictable - I mean really they could jump on you at any moment and well, that terrifies me. So I kind of saw this coming but really there was nothing I could do about it.
Look - A Frog!
Hmmmm...
Wait! Don't leave!
What's it going to do?
Nooooooooo! Get it off Mommy!
Dennis had just left and I was not about to touch the frog. I did try and cover up my laughter but I just thought this was so funny! The frog hopped off soon after and all was fine.

A little gift

It turns out I got my brain to function just enough in this heat to finish a gift just in time for a little girls birthday. I wish it were appropriate for a grown woman to wear an outfit like this!

Lily

My first lily has bloomed. I forget what this kind of lily is called and I'm too tired (read: lazy) to look it up. But they sure are pretty. If you know, leave a comment. It' really just too hot here for me to think of much else to write. I mean really when it hits 85 I think my brain shuts off. Off to do something that requires no thinking. Enjoy the sun!

Rhubarbalicious

Yesterday I collected the first bounty from my garden: rhubarb. We had some family over for dinner and thus I decided to bake, as if I need an excuse. I turned on the oven even though it was well over 80 degrees in the kitchen and made an apple rhubarb crisp. And boy was it good...

Chicks & Bloomers

I got up early this morning and had the chance and energy to do some early morning sewing. Another project from Heather Ross' Weekend Sewing: baby bloomers. I think these turned out so cute. Now I just need a willing little girl to try them on for me. The rest of my day turned out to be a success too. I've been feeling foggy headed now for what seems like forever but woke up this morning feeling a little more energized and so went out to run some errands. I was totally out of chicken food so had to make a trip to the feed store. This was dangerous. They had chicks. Lots and lots of chicks. For Sale. Yup - I couldn't resist and came home with four more. They are sooo cute! I'm hoping hubby isn't too upset with my "surprise." I got 2 production reds and 2 frizzle bantams. But in my defense and reasoning - I think once these start laying I will start selling eggs. So if anyone out there is interested, let me know!
