A Bag for a Bag

I'm back into bags. A girl can just never have enough bags. This is the Origami bag from Amy Butler's "Style Stitches." I happen to make this one out of the same fabric as the last one. It is perfect as a makeup bag or a travel bag or really for anything. This pattern has 6 different sizes. This one is the medium - tomorrow I will be attempting the large and hopefully the extra large, small and mini... I'm going to make them all! If your birthday is coming up - don't read any further - this is my new go-to gift! Enjoy!

Spring Bag

It's supposed to be Spring around here, but it sure doesn't feel like it. It's cold and rainy and generally miserable outside. We try to take advantage of every sunny moment by going outside and soaking up the sun. Then promptly running back inside because it has started raining again. I have seen a few signs of spring lately: a bulb peeking out of the ground here and buds on my fruit trees there... so it's coming. Slowly.

Anyway - I thought a new bright bag was in order to brighten up this dreary rain. So I found this sweet bag pattern and dug into my stash and came up with this:

We took the kids to see "Hop" at the movies today and this bag was perfect for packing candy, some ziploc baggies of Dennis' famous homemade kettle corn, a water bottle and all my other stuff!

Sage's Garden Party

She's One! Can you believe it? I can't.

We had a birthday bash for her last weekend. I decided to have a little garden party theme. I made huge paper flowers that hung from the ceiling. We made mum cupcakes and party hats with flowers on top. The bigger kids got to plant some flower seeds in their own pots to take home. The party was super fun - Sage was a perfect angel. Oh - and she loved her cupcake (especially the marshmallows!) Here are a few pictures from our celebration:

Mama's new mitts! Again with the Spud & Chloe superwash wool and organic cotton yarn that I love!

The Plain Vest

I finally decided to dive in head first and make something bigger than a hat or a scarf or some mitts. I can't fully commit to making a sweater, so I made a vest. A Sage size vest because I can't commit to anything that takes more than one skein of yarn. This called for one skein and it used almost the whole thing. In fact,as I got closer to the end I was starting to get really nervous that I would run out - then what??? But not to worry, it worked. And it turned out so cute!!! I'm very pleased with myself. I got this yummy Spud & Chloe yarn back in the fall while visiting this adorable yarn shop in Portland.

I loved the Quick Change Trousers so much, I decided to make another pair for Sage. They are just so cute, and they fit perfectly over the big butt cloth diapers! I guess you can call these valentine pants for my girl!

The $3 Jumper Dress

That's right. 3 Dollars. Cute and Thrifty! The pattern is the Jumper Dress from Amy Butler's Little Stitches for Little Ones book. And the fabric (did I mention it was a mere $3 a yard???) is from my new favorite fabric store, Creative Union Fabrics in Port Townsend. The owner is wonderful and so is her fabric selection and prices! Anywhoo - on to the dress. It was fairly simple to make, although if I make it again I will definitely modify the pattern a bit. I love how spring-y this dress is. See for yourself:
