Fall Decor

I love Fall! And really I love any excuse to redecorate or change the decor in my house. But what I'm really loving right now is my new bench seat. I asked my father-in-law if he would help me build a bench seat for the big window in my dining room. I guess by help I really meant: build it for me! And that is exactly what he did. Although I totally would have helped. I really wanted the bench seat to look like it belonged there. So we used the same trim on the front of the bench and put the bead board on to tie into the doors. After almost a month of working on it, it finally found it's way home last weekend and I love it! And you know I have a sewing project or two planned for this seat, right? But right now I placed some pillows that I already had there and I'm liking it. Did I mention that the inside of this bench in lined with the most beautiful and delicious smelling cedar? Well it is!

See that sweet little pumpkin in the corner? The bottom of it is all green - I love it!

Anyone else addicted to Pinetrest? I am. It's a love hate thing. The love is that there are so many great ideas on there. The hate is that I spend way too much time on there and not nearly enough time actually doing. I did find some time one afternoon to make my version of this cute leaf banner as seen here. I had all the felt scraps on hand so I just spent some time cutting out leaf shapes and then I just sewed them all together. Really, it was super easy. Here are some close ups of my leaf banner. Thanks to a friend I was reminded that I am waaaaaaaayyyy behind on my blogging. It's something I really enjoy doing but seems to never happen. I'm not making any promises for further blog posts but instead I'm taking it one day at a time. Today I am sharing what most recently came off my knitting needles. As soon as the weather turned a little cooler (and all my favorite shows came back on TV) I picked up my knitting needles and began this Anthro-Inspired Scarflet. It came off my needles 2 nights ago and got blocked last night and is now ready to wear!

For My Little Explorer

I recently got the Oliver + S Little Things to Sew book and immediately knew what I was going to make first. Wyatt is forever going on safari, hiking, hunting, exploring or something of the like so the Explorer vest was a perfect project for my little guy. I seem to have gotten carried away with all the adorable stuff to make for little girls and he was due for something mama-made. It took me two days (days are counted by nap-time, since that is the only time I can sew) to make it: one to cut out the pattern and pieces and one to sew. We still need to go find some buttons to make it look just right but my boy likes his new vest and I'm a happy mama.

40s Inspired Sun Hat

Sage needed a hat and I found this super cute (and EASY!!!) sun hat over at the Prudent Baby. Seriously folks, this was so easy. It took me less than 30 minutes. I added the ribbon so I could tie it on because this little girl does not like hats. Once I get the hat on the key is to distract her so she forgets that it's on. This hat was perfect for our weekend of camping in Lind, WA for the Combine Destruction Derby where the sun was shining!

Birdcage Jumper

I've been saving this cute birdcage fabric for something special. When I came across this jumper pattern in my One Yard Wonders book, I knew they would be a great match. And so, I started sewing. And I just happen to have these adorable buttons in my stash! Taking pictures of my little girl in her new dress was not as easy as sewing it. She looks somewhat happy in most of these pictures but she was in desperate need of a nap! This jumper is the perfect outfit for a hot summer day. I'm hoping we get a few of those around here soon. I'm planning to make a cute pair of bloomers to go under this jumper. Stay tuned...
