Wings for my Butterfly

Sage loves butterflies. Almost everyday you'll catch her singing a song that she made up that goes "like a butterfly, dance like a butterfly" as she dances around and flaps her arms. When I saw these wings over on Probably Actually, I knew that Sage needed a pair. The tutorial originally comes from here. All the fabric came from my stash or scrap bin. This project was fairly easy to make, cutting the pieces was the most time consuming part. They attach to her arms with elastic straps. I also added some small elastic loops on the ends so she can put her finger through them. Flap away my little butterfly!

Bubble Dress

My long absences does not mean I haven't been busy over here. But I have noticed that the frequency of my blog posting goes hand in hand with my sewing. Lots of knitting, woodworking and general crafting has been going on over here but until today, my sewing machine has been rather quite. Again, I was inspired by a pinterest pin that lead me to Straight Grain, a lovely site with some great tutorials. And that is were I found the Bubble Dress. I got this beautiful curdory fabric back in October that I had been holding on to for a project that was just right. This totally fit the bill. The dress is fully lined (with yellow gingham!) and I added some mini pom-poms in yellow too. Sage loves it and I have a feeling this is just the beginning of a new wardrobe of bubble dresses. I have some fabric in mind for an Easter/ Birthday dress and I think this pattern will be perfect. I think the best part for Sage was that she got to blow bubbles while I was taking pictures.

The back closes at the top with a simple button.
